1Introduction
Welcome to SlothEdu ("SlothEdu", "we", "us" or "our"). SlothEdu is an educational mobile application that helps students learn, practise, track their progress and stay connected with their learning centre.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share and protect personal information when you download, access or use the SlothEdu mobile application and any related services (together, the "Service").
We are committed to handling personal data responsibly and in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Personal Data", the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the Google Play Developer Program Policies.
By using SlothEdu, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service.
2Information We Collect
We collect only the information that is necessary to provide and improve the Service. We do not collect precise location, contacts, SMS, call logs, or photos from your device.
2.1 Personal Information
- Account details: full name, username or login ID, phone number and/or email address, and a securely hashed password.
- Profile information: profile picture (optional), group or class, and date of birth where needed for age verification.
- Educational information: courses, lessons, attendance, homework submissions, test and exam results, scores, ratings and learning progress.
2.2 Usage and Device Data
- Device model, operating system and version, app version, language and time-zone settings.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token used to deliver push notifications.
- In-app activity such as screens visited, features used, session length, and crash and performance diagnostics.
2.3 Communication Data
- Messages you send to our support team, feedback, ratings and bug reports.
- Any content you voluntarily submit inside the app (for example, answers to assignments or questions to teachers).
3How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To create, authenticate and manage your account.
- To provide educational content, lessons, quizzes and tests.
- To display results, grades, attendance and learning progress to students and, where applicable, to their parents or guardians.
- To send push notifications about lessons, homework, results, schedule changes and important announcements.
- To respond to your support requests and feedback.
- To maintain, analyse and improve the performance, stability and features of the app.
- To detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse, security issues and technical problems.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4Legal Basis for Processing
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process personal data on the following legal bases:
Contract
Processing needed to provide the Service you or your learning centre requested.
Consent
For optional features such as push notifications. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Legitimate interests
Keeping the app secure, fixing bugs and improving the learning experience.
Legal obligation
Where we must keep or disclose data to comply with the law.
5Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only in the following limited situations:
- Your learning centre or school: teachers and administrators of the institution you study with can see the educational information needed to teach and manage your studies.
- Parents or guardians: of minor students, who can see their child's progress and results.
- Service providers: trusted partners that host our infrastructure and deliver notifications (for example, Google Firebase), bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
- Legal requirements: when required by law, court order or a valid request from public authorities, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users and others.
- Business transfers: if SlothEdu is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your information may be transferred, and we will notify you before it becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- With your consent: in any other case, only after obtaining your explicit consent.
6Data Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration, including:
- Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
- Hashed and salted storage of passwords.
- Role-based access controls, so staff access data only when needed for their job.
- Regular security reviews, backups and monitoring.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your login credentials confidential and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
7Data Retention and Deletion
We keep personal information only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterwards only as long as required by law.

Accounts that remain inactive for 12 consecutive months may be deleted automatically. We will attempt to notify you before this happens. Anonymised, aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may be retained to improve the Service.
8How to Delete Your Account
You can request deletion of your SlothEdu account and associated personal data at any time, free of charge, using either method below:
Option A — Inside the app
- Open SlothEdu and sign in.
- Go to Profile → Settings.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
Option B — By email
Send an email to [email protected] from the email or phone number linked to your account, with the subject "Account deletion request", and include your full name and username.
9Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction
Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Deletion
Ask us to delete your account and personal data.
Restriction
Ask us to limit how we process your data.
Portability
Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Objection
Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
Withdraw consent
Withdraw consent at any time, e.g. turn off notifications.
Complaint
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Contact Us. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.
10Children's Privacy and Parental Consent
SlothEdu is an educational app and may be used by students under the age of 16. We take children's privacy seriously:
- Accounts for children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in their country) are created only by a learning centre, school, parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for obtaining verifiable parental consent.
- We collect only the minimum information needed for educational purposes.
- Children cannot make purchases, see advertising, or be contacted by strangers inside the app.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent.
Parents and guardians can review, correct or request deletion of their child's information at any time by contacting us. If we learn that we have collected a child's data without proper consent, we will delete it promptly.
11App Permissions
SlothEdu may request the following device permissions. Each is used only for the stated purpose, and you can revoke it at any time in your device settings.

12Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate SlothEdu:
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver push notifications. (Privacy information)
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — to collect crash reports that help us fix bugs. (Privacy information)
- Google Play Services — required for app distribution and core functionality on Android. (Google Privacy Policy)
These providers process data only on our behalf and according to their own privacy policies. We do not use Firebase or any Google service for advertising purposes. The app may contain links to external websites; we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
13Advertising Policy
SlothEdu is completely ad-free. We do not display advertisements, do not integrate third-party ad networks, and do not use the Android Advertising ID. Your data is never used for advertising, marketing profiles or behavioural targeting.
14International Data Transfers
Your information may be stored and processed on servers located outside your country, including by our service providers. Where data is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable law, such as standard contractual clauses.
15Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by other appropriate means before they take effect.
Continued use of SlothEdu after the changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
